History

Founded nearly a century ago in 1932; M/s Gheru lal Balchand is a family business based in Abohar (Punjab), India. Since 1932, the business has seen the dynamic leadership of three pioneers. The business/ company, 81 years ago was the brainchild of Seth Balchand ji Sharda, under whose adjective leadership it gained recognition. The second innings of the business was headed by and thrived under the management of Shri Purushottam Lal Sharda. Over the last three decades, Pradeep Sharda has taken the business to newer heights. In 1994 branching out from the company came into being Balchand Cotspin Pvt. Ltd., a ginning mill initiated by Pradeep Sharda. The managing director of the business is Raghav Sharda who has successfully completed a course from International Cotton Institution at the university of Memphis &  has been awarded by the American Cotton Shippers Association. He is on the board of directors for Indian Cotton Association Ltd (2014 - present).

Current Profile

The current operations are branched in various hubs of cotton markets in North Indian states of Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and in Gujarat. Primarily the business deals in ginning, trading and are commission agents of cotton, cottonseeds, yarn and cotton linters. The mill comprises of both Double Roller and Saw Gin machines.

We have farmlands in Bhangarkhera, Alamgarh (Punjab) and Meharwala (Rajasthan). Correspondingly, we are also involved in selling agricultural produce of the farmers in the market. Where we grow cotton, wheat, mustard, gram, pulses and fruits like lemons, guava, pear, kinnow etc.Also we deal in Cotton waste, Comber noil and yarn.

Quality

At Balchand Cotspin Pvt. Ltd. and other firms, we strive to deliver quality cotton to the buyer. Some of the measures we undertake to do so in our ginning plant are:

  • Ensuring quality purchases from farms and mandi
  • Double Roller/ Saw Gin machines are maintained and cleaned continually
  • Good packaging of bales
  • Taking care to avoid contamination
  • Testing of cotton by visual graders and electronic equipment
  • Controlling moisture in all stages of the process
  • Storing cotton, cottonseeds, etc. in clean and secure warehouses
